Caesarean Delivery

When natural delivery poses a risk to the mother or baby a Caesarean section is advised. Prolonged labor, fetal or maternal distress, uterine rupture, cord prolapsed and failed induction of labor are a few reasons for opting for surgery. Spinal anesthesia is used as opposed to general anesthesia which sedates the newborn. The mother is alert to receive her baby ready for the first feed. Post surgery pain is managed through suitable medication.
